Alia Vox appear to have perfected the art of minimalist recording in stone-faced church or historic venues. Although this is not one of their most recent releases, the results are wonderfully transparent, natural and vibrant-sounding, with stunning stage depth and ambience.

This recording is very simply summarised. A great performance, in fine sound. IMHO this is the premier Bruckner 5 in hi-resolution sound, and definitely recommended over his later BPO reading.

I'm not going to insult folk by commenting on the music. Nearly 50 years after first hearing this performance of the Four Last Songs, it still brings tears to my eyes.
