Top notch recording and performance of some admittedly not top notch Grieg. Sound in multi-channel expands gloriously to fill your room. What can i say? Stunning playing, stunning recording...anyone who has the slightest interest in classical music must buy this disc! The only other sacd I own that I can compare it to is the Dvorak 8 and 9 from Ivan Fischer and surprise, surprise the recording engineer was the same in both discs. Mr ... more |

Recording and performances are excellent, i just find it hard to listen to these reductions after growing up with the glories of the Concertgebouw and Colin Davis. Agree with nucaleena - excellent performances. I think the sound is excellent as well, smooth strings and bass that you can almost touch. Turn the rears down a notch or two and you'll be back in the hall in April 2002! |

WARNING: this disc is not for those who like to relax with a cup of tea! Great performances in absolutely first-class sound as per usual with Channel Classics. This is why I got into SACD. You can feel as well as hear the instruments in a magnificent MC acoustic. Please Opus 3 and Opus 8 Mr Sacks! |
