The best thing about this release is Hillborg's phrase "sado-modernism"! For me, the music is just too pointless and random. I guess I'm just not into this style anymore. The audio quality becomes a moot issue for me, but I suppose it does *sound* good--maybe a little distant. |

This is just a beautiful recording. The perspective is close so every detail is clearly captured, but there is plenty of ambiance. The music is great,too. I concur. This release is every bit as fine as volume 1. He has a new instrument for this recording, which has a bit less pronounced mid range than the previous one, which I find appealing. Despite the silly title, which Finnish guitarist Petri Kumela explains in his notes, this is a stunning recording. I have not heard him play before, so I am thrilled to discover such a fine player. In most respects, this is a wonderful recording. Sergei has ample technique to effortlessly play these pieces. He never over-pedals, and as a result inner details are crystal clear. Quiet passages are beautifully poetic, and the dramatic passages are stormy without sounding like a jackhammer.
