Have you ever bothered to imagine how a 5.1-channel MONOPHONIC disc might sound? :-)
Well, here is your chance to find out, though it's not GUARANTEED to be mono, as Membran are not very explicit about any reprocessing the (surely mono) recording has been gone thru.

In view of the glowing recommendations above about the superlative improvement of the SACD vs. the DG Originals CD, which I own, I rushed ahead and bought the SACD. The Schubert is my favorite performance in a very present and pleasant sound. Pressler plays with a great vitality and tenderness, with sensitive rubati.
