There are a number of things I enjoy about this disc. I think the orchestra plays well, and the multichannel engineering captures this live concert honestly. Well, at least for now, this is my favorite SA-CD, for a number of reasons. Of the three quartets presented here, only #2 was previously available on SA-CD, with the Rosalyra Quartet on Artegra (coupled with #8). I greatly enjoyed this. I haven't heard the Pletnev, yet, which Polly Nomial has reviewed for the site. The Rostropovich, Lazarev, and Kitajenko readings are all in my player, and if forced to do so, I'd probably pick Kitajenko because of the sound and the orchestra.
