I just got the reply from OPPO local dealer. Apparently, the player could output either in 196k/24bit DSD format or 88.2k/24bit format down-converted to PCM. for my case, since my marantz nr1501 is too light weighted to support DSD input, i have no choice but to opt for PCM (which can support multi-channel) via hdmi. due to licensing issues, OPPO ... more | |

Sorry about my lack of knowledge in this... i was told that SACD could produce sound that are better, warmer and clearer as compared to normal CD. As to how warm or clear, i really have no idea. Hi rammiepie, Thanks... so judging from this, i could actually still go for OPPO and the sound coming into the amp and out of my speakers would still be better than normal CDs? if so, would i still be able to pick out those frequencies range that normal CD can't produce, resulting in a clearer and warmer feel? Guys, thanks for your valuable input. from what i have gathered, it seems that the main bottleneck is my amp. it just not possible to pipe out DSD and therefore denying me the pure pleasure of listening my SACD. In any case, would there be other benefits granted that multi-channel sound distribution is beyond my reach at the moment? are there ... more | |

Thanks for your input. my setup is really simple, a 3.1 setup. The speakers are Mission MX series and the room dimension is approx. 6m by 6m. The speaker distance to my sitting area is approx. 2.5m away. The specs for NR1501 can be seen ... more |
