This disc represents Paavo Berglund's 4th recording of each of these symphonies (priors were Bournemouth SO, Helsinki Phil, Chamber Orch of Europe). Interesting. In the 60's Columbia used 3-channels to record Leonard Bernstein, which I assume meant that the center channel got mixed into both the L & R. That could be done with MC, I am sure.
