I took your advice Brenda and this morning received the disc. Indeed the orchestra sound very well! Perhaps the violin is it a little timid... but you will think, I'm never satisfied! More seriously, I have just read the review resulting from amazon.co.uk, my impression is perhaps caused by the use of instrument of period; I go listen again! Thanx ... more | |

Many thanx for this review Brenda; by the way, I allow myself to ask you: is this recording of Mozart [t=1477] really powerful? Of Köln Concerto I have, in DG, Wilms 6° and 7° Symphonies, excellent dynamic for a small orchestra _ but they has 3 trombones, which do not have Scottish Chamber Orchestra, I dunno if the comparison is judicious... ... more | |

By the way, did you notice as it is difficult to find CD with the two concertos for violin of Mendelssohn? Many offers only one of this concertos, coupled with that of Beethoven, Brahms, or Bruch _ a concerto for suicidal neurasthenic, this last. Annoying, is not it? ... more | |

I receive this SACD today and am a lil' disappointed: admittedly there is no parasite breath or noise, but I find, the sounds of the instruments are not distinguished individually, and the total sound misses energy and contrasts. Regrettable because the program, indeed, was tempting... do you have heard this recording? What do you think of it? ... more |
