Love this multi channel album. White's guitar playing is very cruzy, the backing muisc is wonderful as is the 5.1 mix. Top marks from me. This one is up there with the best in my collection. Yep, a cd layer would be nice - but it was labelled as mc only.

Wonderful! Even with 3 tracks I don't listen to (those celtic numbers) this still gets top marks. Knopflers voice gets better with age - so does his song writing it seems.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. While multi-channel can sound very good, it is by no means realistic except on some classical & jazz recordings where the surrounds are used for ambient details. On most rock recordings it's basically novelty value - great fun maybe, but novelty all the same. Whether you listen to SACD, CD, LP's etc, stereo sound is ... more

Well, bully for you. I have a Rega Saturn cdp. It doesn't upsample and I've listened to quite a few that do. The Saturn run rings (pun intended) around every cdp I heard, including the upsamplers. I suggest you go out and listen to a few quality cdp's regarless of upsampling abilities. Back to the Oppo, I recently sold my Marantz Dv-9600 and now ... more

Yes, it says SACD may as well be dead. Although a long time fan I have given up on them - sure if I ever see one I fancy I'll buy it. None of the stores near us stock them any more. And to be honest 6,183 titles in over 10 years shows just how SACD is failing - it's quite pitiful really. The other thing - a few of you on this forum should read ... more
