Big Brother & the Holding Company: Cheap Thrills      (3 of 3 found this review helpful)
  February 1, 2005

It can be argued that this disc contains THE finest vocal performance by a female rock singer. There has never been a rock singer since Janis Joplin who is as ELECTRIFYING as she herself was. And this is probably the crown jewel of her catalogue. A mixture of 1968 studio and live performances, Cheap ... more

And, truth be told, they do sound like a cross between all three of those bands with a ... more

Got a great deal on this one. Only $5.99 (shipping included) at www.yourmusic.com. This is only the 7th classical SACD I have purchased or heard and it is a winner! VERY warm sound! The only other classical releases I have bought have been on Telarc and Naxos. While I still prefer the bright, crisp, ... more

I'm sure many of you know of the $5.99 (shipping included) deals at www.yourmusic.com, but I thought I would just post this for those who don't. Basically, it's a monthly subscription service. You add CDs (or SACDs) to your queue and they send you the CD at the top of your queue once a month. Great deal for only $5.99. I joined on a Friday and got ... more
