Performance:   Sonics:
This is outstanding performance of Berlioz's Harold in Italy! Leonard Slatkin understands this work's emotionally moments, and Berthaud is very good soloist. I heard long time ago Naxos' earlier recording of this work (San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Talmi) and it isn't bad, actually, I liked it very much, and it was my favorite recording long time. But when I heard this, I knew that this is much better.
The recording quality is excellent. Orchestra's tone is rich and clear, and soloist's and orchestra's balance is natural and enjoyable. Slatkin's tempi are moving, and he brings many good things of these familiar works. Warmly recommend.
