More than a re-edition, this new DSD remastering based on the master tapes is ear-opening vis-à-vis the recorded works. A new sound dimension is offered us as we rediscover these famous scores of “Don Juan,” “Death and Transfiguration,” and “Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks” by Richard Strauss in an interpretation by Wilhelm Furtwängler, who conducts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and the “Four Last Songs” with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and the Philharmonia, which Otto Ackermann leads. It can never be said enough: the “Reminiscences” series on the Praga Digitals label is a veritable benediction for any and all music lovers and audiophiles. For, as said, these are veritable “new recordings” that are proposed, in a new DSD master based on the original mix. Start spreading the news…
