Performance:   Sonics:
One founding member leaves the band and another new member comes into the fold. The bands style is slightly altered. Some fans like it while others pan it.

Most of this album is less melancholy and more upbeat. The sax becomes a new addition. Fans have said this album is lass prog rock and more prog pop. What to say??? There is some justification there as track 6 could almost be a disco dance number.

regardless OF YOUR TASTES..IF YOU'RE A FAN THIS ALBUM it Deserves MORE THAN A LISTEN despite said changes of direction.

Sound wise this is a solid if somewhat light shm sacd. By that I mean that Camels recorded sound is somewhat light and not very dense. Even increasing the volume doesn't help all that much. Don't get me wrong....this is a more than good sounding disc.......but I feel its not up there with the very, very best. Musically the atmosphere of the music is top notch. Keyboards, synths and the moog help create an overall feel that is a good listen. It has a propulsive sound and feel to the entire album. There are a few moments of 3d like effects but they are rare.

Bass is nice but not the fullest sounding. Drums have good definition but the sound shows the low recording level. Skins aren't felt. Guitar fares better and solos are felt with texture.
Soundstage is quite solid while the vocals are somewhat unclear and average. The guys were musicians not singers.

10 tracks......45 minutes of music.
This is a good shm sacd and I recommend it to fans of the band. My actual score if 4 and a quarter stars for both album and sound.
