Performance:   Sonics:
Recorded between January 26~29 & February 1, 1966 in the Copa Room, Sands Hotel, Las Vegas, NV, Count Basie Live collects fourteen time honored jazz standards which served as warm~up sessions before the entrance of the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Frank Sinatra.

Lovingly recorded by engineer Lowell Frank, in four track analogue, the live interaction of Basie's top notch session players, interspersed with the tinkling of cocktail glasses created a brief but pervasive opening for the Main Event.

In the producer's notes, it is stated: "We have created one long set out of these recordings."

And at 53 minutes in duration, we are all the more blessed to be privy to the astute piano genius of the great William Count Basie leading a great orchestra of talented, in their own right, jazz musicians.

Thank you MoFi for making this veritable treasure available in the SACD format.........

A great companion piece for the DVD~A 5.1 of Sinatra At The Sands!
