| I already had one SACD of this iconic LP by the Allman Brothers, but SACDs are not that easy to come by and especially by your favorite band, the first I have was done by Mercury and is much more polished than this version, but Mofi really let's this recording shine without super compressing it, and This other reviewer here made me want to give this a listen, I was just going to send it back, because of finances, and he was right, the first tracks are a little hissy and rough, but you can here the dynamics of the music much better, and without the compression, you really hear the recording like a live show, Mountain Jam, their 35 minute jam sounds totally different, the drummers go nuts while the drum solo here is loud and a big part of the song. Barry Oakley's Bass is much more noticeable too. This SACD is done from the original tapes, the first SACD sounds like it was taking the original release and making a SACD from the original mix, because this is fresh, and really, it has different sounds on different parts. There is more life in the recording than the first SACD. Dickey and Duane really shine here with their guitar work. Sometimes songs sound faster than what you have been listening to for years. You hear stuff in the percussion that I never heard before. The other reviewer said this wasn't audiophile, I understand where He was coming from, but I am going to say that it is because what was done here by the MO FI engineer was make the music sound like it really sounded. Most SACDs are enhancements to make the music sound better, and add compression and polish. If you like the ABB, you need this.
