Performance:   Sonics:
Once again in its limited edition series “Réminiscences,” the label Praga Digitals here proposes the audio resurrection of famous works by Manuel de Falla, with the 1925 ballet “El Amor Brujo” and the soprano Marina de Gabarain accompanied by the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande that Ernest Ansermet directs, the “Concerto” for Piano, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Violin and Cello with Robert Veyron-Lacroix and the Spanish National Orchestra that Ataulfo Argenta leads, the “Spanish Popular Songs” for soprano and piano with Victoria de Los Angeles and Gonzalo Soriano, and for solo piano, “Cuatro Obras Espanolas” and “Fantasia Betica” with Alicia de Larrocha. Here is a truly generous anthology of close to eighty minutes, in a DSD remastering of equal standing, of essential works by a composer “who invented modern Spanish music by reviving the songs, rhythms and authentic dances of an Andalusia that is both legendary and still alive” (Pierre-Emile Barbier).
