Performance:   Sonics:
It seems that the Shm sacd project has ended and this is most unfortunate. It also gives me the chance to catch up on some of the previous releases I couldn't get to earlier.

Bill Evans is very well represented on the Shm Sacd label. This newest Shm sacd was recorded in 1963 and is as the name reveals a trio of musicians. Evans was renown and famous for his trio recordings and this album is a terrific listen.

Musically it is very uplifting and cheerful. He even has a version of Santa Claus is coming to town.

Sonically this sacd is no slouch as anyone who has heard Mr. Evans on SHm knows. The bass work is extremely powerful with a deep pronounced presence. I was actually surprised at the bass sound and how deep it went. The piano is clear and concise and very lyrical and the drum work has no solos to mention on any track but very nice time keeping and cymbal work.

THe whole shm sacd is transparent from start to finish with excellent low end presence and treble extension. And ofcourse a nice tape hiss sheen that helps the sound bloom.

Highly recommended. A great disc with a relaxing experience.
A great Bill Evans shm sacd.
