Performance:   Sonics:
This shm sacd is a very good sounding release. Recorded in the early 60's I wondered what kind of tape source would be used to make the Dsd master. All is well and I shouldn't have been concerned.

The synergy of the musicians is a tad different than on other albums and the actual performance is quite good. Bill Evans is not one of these musicians that will play the same song over and over again over many years and albums. He may play the same song but it will be different from other performances and recordings. As a jazz great is improvisational after all.

The actual recording also sounds a little different as well when compared to other albums from a similar period. There is a certain flavour that I wont try to explain but its there. Maybe boomy is a good work. But its subtle. tHERE IS A DELICATE TAPE HISS AS WELL WHICH IS GREAT.

Sound wise this is a great disc. It has very good mid range, bass and treble extension. There is not much in the way of drum solo's or long bass runs but its still a great disc to own and listen to. Evans piano is captured very well. Its easy to get lost in the sound when listening to this sacd.

If one is a fan of this album and wants to take a chance on this rather expensive Shm Sacd.........feel free....you wont be let down in any way.

It needs to be played several times to sound its best.

Highly recommended.
