Performance:   Sonics:
Classic album. Probably one of favorite 80s pop releases.

First of all, this is genuine DSD (verified on a spectorgram of an 88.2/24 rip). Looking at waveforms, I can also see that the content has fairly low dynamic range, but is not brick wall limited.

I've heard the remastered CD with bonus tracks and the original LP. The remastered CD was brickwalled. The original LP, had thinned out bass and was treble heavy. I have never heard the original CD release.

This SACD has extended bass, which was immediately noticeable against the LP. However, it's too thick and there's a head bump in the midbass region that needs to be thinned out. Also, the treble is a bit lacking.

All that being said, the taughness and resolution of the DSD mastering is still evident.

Great performances, but TERRIBLE, compressed sonics... DO NOT BUY SECOND HAND... Not worth the money... It is bad on RBCD and TERRIBLE on SACD...

Performance:   Sonics:
I am a 35 year+ music lover and audio tweaker. As my system's performance has gotten better over the years, this disc has unfortunately gotten worse. The more resolution I am able to get out of my system, the poorer that resolution sounds from this disc.

Because I want to enjoy my wife's company during listening sessions (whenever she's up to it), I try to keep my audio opinions to myself, especially on music she likes. This has traditionally been one one of my wife's favorites. But even she says now that she'd rather listen to this on her Zune (320K MP3). It just doesn't sound right anymore.

I'd like to think that's because my system has gotten so much better...and it has. But unfortunately, it also speaks to the overall mastering of this disc. If you're listening JUST to enjoy the music you should be fine here. BUT if you're like me and like to listen for critical sonics as well as enjoy the music...you might want to rethink spending the money on this OOP disc.

I think this one is on its way to E-Bay shortly.
