Sonics:
Not planning on rating the performance cuz if you bought it, you know about the album! ;)

Regarding the sonics, without executing a controlled A/B test, I really couldn't tell much of a difference between this Mobile Fidelity (MoFi) version of this album vs. the older Sony/Columbia SACD from a few years back. This is rather unfortunate as I expected the MoFi version to contain slightly more presence than it's predecessor. That's not to say that it doesn't sound good, it does (it resides primarily in the midrange region without much higher end "sparkle"), but it's just not worth the upgrade (especially at $30) if you already own the Sony version...which I forgot I owned! ;) :(

Performance:   Sonics:
This is a solid release by Mofi. This is also the second version of this particular album to be released on sacd.

The previous sacd is actually pretty good and has bonus tracks.
But this new Mofi version is better by a fair margin. Mofi seems to have gathered more information from the source tapes and the quality is evident.

The bass is more musical and direct...drums hit deeper.........the guitar has more presence and the vocals are warmer and more three dimensional.

The musical involvement with this new sacd is felt right away. The music is so much more palpable and its presence felt more. I noticed that the last track..Lenny...you can actually hear the vibrations of the chords .the vibrato.mixed in with the music. I never noticed this with the previous sacd. Good stuff.

Again.the original sacd was very good and those bonus tracks are nice to have but I think the new Mofi is a better dsd transfer that shows off this particular album very well. Depending on your system you may or may not notice the improvement but its real.

Yes.I know its a pain in the duff to part with your money for another version of this album.. Do we need another version of this sacd???

Only you can answer that question as its your money.

Recommended.
