Performance:   Sonics:
When EMI announced that their first classical SACD release was to be Moment of Glory, many felt that this was an odd choice. However, after listening to this disc, I think that EMI made a good choice. This disc is one of my favorite demo multi-channel discs. Several people I know have bought SACD players simply because of this release.

Consisting of 10 tracks (as well as a hidden 11th that is not on the Redbook release), this is a fusion of the rock group "The Scorpions" along with the "Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra". The focus here is more on the "Rock" aspect than the "Classical". The tone is set from the onset with "Hurricane 2000", an update of "Rock You Like a Hurricane". The sonics in mutli-channel sweep through the room in a way that stereo cannot match. This disc gives an excellent example of how to make a surround mix balance the line between being to overpowering and being non-existant. Listening to the violins at the start of "Hurricane 2000" and you will be hooked. Along the way, songs like "Moment of Glory", "Send Me An Angel" and "Lady Starlight" will all have you grinning from ear to ear.

A difficult disc to find but well worth it.
