Performance:   Sonics:
Art Taylor was one of the great drummers from the 50's jazz scene.....He recorded a lot on the Prestige label and was a sideman to some of the greats.....Donald Byrd , Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk!
ART'S DELIGHT was his 3rd album released in 1960 and uniquely features conga player Carlos "Patato" Valdes who adds a nice little sound variation on 4 songs on this album. In addition Taylor borrows the skills of pianist Wynton Kelly and bassist Paul Chambers with Stanley Turrentine on the sax and David Burns on the trumpet.
This is a pretty prototypical 60's Blue Note album with excellent musicianship and a very listenable jazz album never getting too crazy or loud. I love the mix of conga's , trumpet, sax and drums with the bass and piano keep the whole thing together.
Sound wise this is another fantastic jazz album resurrected from the Analogue Productions team of Gray and Hoffman. Once again every bit of detail , depth and ounce of tones have been carefully mixed and lovingly presented in SACD quality.
Some of the drumming and Conga (left and right channel) sound like the buys are playing right beside you. When everyone is playing all together it is like a full jazz band playing right in your living room.
Hoffman and Gray have done a great job on this SACD and I think it is one of the best that I have so far sound wise from the AP Blue Note Remasters.
