Sheer unaldulterated Pleasure from start to finish.Likely to be my and many others sacd disc of the year. Forget the rather counter productive descriptive title of the very melodic and flowing symphony. Yes there is undispited similarity to numerous other Romatic composers as per Castors review but You can add impressions of Hollywood and the likes of Korngold for the odd passage.I would add Suk and Novak to previous mentioned list. Very string dominated throughout its well balanced 4 movements and probably more luxurious in its scoring than anything Schubert wrote.A disc to relax and entertain and be carried away with. The opening work, Spring,is a slightly later work and even slightly more advanced in its style,Scriabin and a few French composers come to mind in this descriptive and superbly played picture painting work, naturally includes the cuckoo impressions and other spring references. Recording quality OUTstanding and booklet contains enough reading material and information for many a winters evening. I do not know how many more of this series are left but for musical and sonic indulgence,This is the best of a really fine bunch.Probably a DSD recording and a normal CD style case.Front cover of booklet is awfull.
