DO NOT MISS THIS!!!

Hearing the best sections of the RING in 60 minutes??? YES! No singers??? YES! Fast tempos??? EGAD!!! YES!!!

If you like the pseudo-mumbo-jumbo-spirituality of Furtwangler or Celibidache, STAY AWAY! This is Wagner on SPEED!

The recording is great! Open it up and let it roll through the house.

I think the only shortcoming is that the arranger did not do what Stokowski did in his many Wagner charts: orchestrate the vocal line. The problem with that is that an essential line in the counterpoint is LOST completely! The most disappointing places are Wotan's Farewell and the Immolation Scene. That is the reason for the 3.5 stars on the performance rating. On the other hand, this is great listening, and the conductor did not end up giving Georg Solti's opinion, on recording the RING for Decca, that "... all singers should be boiled in oil!"

Run and get this!
