Performance:   Sonics:
I must admit that I still love fusion rock and funk and Hancock's "Flood Live" gives us a lot of both ! With heavy emphasis on the "Thrust" album and a bit of "Head Hunters", Hancock and his crew deliver a live album of epic magnitude !

I have always loved both Head Hunters and Thrust but clearly this live album takes us into a whole different world and makes these songs come to life in a very different way . Opening the album is the sole piano solo of Herbie and his opus "Maiden Voyage" which then switches to the funk space fusion material and where we really take off.

Musically this album is superb but I find the sonics for SACD to be just so-so. Too bad cause if this one had the sonic snap of many SACD's then this would have been the most desirable SACD on this site. I find the high's too muted for this mix. I dont own the original to compare it to and only have the studio albums which have been very well re-mastered. The one thing I would say is that it is still a very rich full sound just not as dynamic as it could have been. This is the same condition I found with a number of SACD's (ie. Pretenders).....the sound is good but just not Fantatsic as SACD can be!
