J. Beckstein saxes, T. Schuman keys, J. Fernandez g, S. Ambush b, Bonny B. ds & perc & vcl, A. Narell steel pans, C. Howes violin, M. Quinones conga, Heads Up 2007. This is my fifth Spyro Gyra SACD and again there`s high standard pop-jazz on twelve tracks, as on the other four discs before. Each of the discs itself has got good pop-jazz, but as a whole there´s too less alternation in the sound, so it gets a bit boring listening to Spyro Gyra. They should think about a little change of their sound, or else it may not be worth the price to buy another Spyro disc with the same music. They are trying some new instruments here, e.g. violin or steel pans giving somewhat a Caribbean touch on one or two tracks, but as a whole it is Spyro sound from the first note. Perfect, but very well known pop-jazz. I recommend this disc only to people who do not own lots of Spyro discs already. The sound is very good, rich of colour, good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, dynamic, brilliant.
