Performance:   Sonics:
The only problem of this Stereo CD/SACD is the bad taste cover, which shows an elderly woman or a transvestite wearing a long wig with children bang and grotesque boots as used by the teenager PopRock band Kiss in an claustrophobic subway station, not a romantic place to inspire about this fine music this disc contain.

Excluding this minor problem, the disc is excellent, very good sound quality, no digital ultrasonic noise and tape hiss is not a problem, indicate a very good mastering job, you can rest the sound quality is very good, with a fine sounstage, a believable musical presence, some instruments are closeup caption as Tenor Sax to highlight the solo musician, in a nice magnifier effect, and in the set of all instruments the recording is pleasing and really suited to relax in a hard day's night.

The disc box are not the usual CD jewel or SACD SuperJewel Box, but a new solid black one suposed to be part of the special dark ''art work'' for this release.

The recordings are a good example of the famous jazz recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder(*1924) work, and as a bit usual the RVG carreer the piano spot are in the Van Gelder way, but it is not a bad sound, just the RVG way of recording the piano.
A shame RVG never win a Grammy, his work are stellar in the jazz history.

The music are jazz ballads with an romantic feeling, perfomed by famous jazz virtuoses, that excell in talent and improvisation, a pity there is only two tracks with a glorious Hammond B3 tonal wheel sound.
Barcode 632375601829 ten tracks, time 62:08 a very recommended Stereo SACD for any music lover fan and great demo of RVG work.
