Sonics:
Ok! It were 6 days!!
The sound is flat in all directions!
Again, attention to the volume knob is required, the modulation is on the high side!
The tonal balance is fair, but it tends to bright up! The sound packs between the speakers without deepth, although it's smooth! I remember the vinyl edition and it suffer from the same issues! The Definitive Edition Remaster is less modulated and less prone to treble, but dont expose the same level of detail, with a rough presentation (CD sound and older transfer from master tape).
A quick view over the wave forms of this remaster edition (cd layer) dont reveal peak cliping, i only found one sample at the time with full modulation, if i detect two consecutive samples at full level, then it was a sign of limiter interaction, but i dind´t find, so i'm force to believe that things were done with attention!

Its better than previous editions, and i suspect that the master tapes are very limited!

If you like the music, get it!

Regards

Performance:   Sonics:
Well, I second PLS's findings: the sonics on this disc are highly compressed. And I, too, remember the LP being exactly the same - and hating it for being so!

This is very sad because it's one of my favorite albums of all time. The writing and playing are spectacular, the theme timeless. The music is full of dynamics, incredible crescendos that errupt into change-up break-out sections. And I'm rooting for it to be spectacular. To build and build and then release and carry me away with the new theme. But the compression holds it back and no matter how loud you crank the gain, the emotional involvement is just not there on the disc. Such a shame. Love this music, hate the masters. IMO they ruined this one in the studio. I'm in mourning because this album is one of the main reasons I bought the Genesis 1976-1982 SACD/DVD six pack. Other discs fair better (much better), but this one is lost forever.
