J. Ferguson vcl & b, C. Potter ts, S. Karlsson p, J. White ds, A-Records 2000. Fourteen songs, two of them originals, some well known standards, 65 minutes entertainment by a “high, sweet tenor voice”, that`s what you get with this disc. I find him best singing slow melancholic ballads (e.g. Deep Summer Music, Slow Hot Wind…), but also some bluesy mid-tempo songs are interpreted very amusing. I also like the thrifty arrangements and the skilful accompanying by the band-mates, who contribute some nice solos. All in all it is a relaxed but entertaining hour you can spend with this disc, especially if you like male jazz singers. The sound is very good, rich of colour, good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments and the voice to breath, dynamic, brilliant.
