This is a clear winner in the triple concerto of the Year SACD award. Each one is worth its admission fee alone.So..Who Is This Em(a)il Hartmann you may well ask.?..Son of the more famous J.P.E. and from a musical pedigree family. You will probably struggle to find any reference to him in Musical books. He has not been outdone by any of his lineage in his writing for concertos, far from it.....The 25 minute Violin cto opens and is reminiscent of Bruch Mendlessohn Schumman and Brahms earlier works in a good sort of way..The second movement is very poetic..and the orchestral scoring and writing is clever varied and very musical..The Cello concerto which follows also is in the same vein and a hint of Harold in Italy can be discerned and even up to the mighty Dvorak at times. This is the shorter of the three little gems and probably the most Romantic of the thre...The Longer Piano concerto is more Schumman (even Claras concerto if you are familiar with it) plus Brahms and even looks forward to Saint Saens concertos...Obviously any works that are not totally original in style are not going to get rave reviews by the aristocracy of critics but to me this is FABULOUS.The playing by the three soloists seems nigh on perfect and the recording balance in really well done..I would guess this is not DSD but as good as you can get wirh PCM...The music dosent place that many demands on dynamics but has a nice tone. The Helsingborg orchestra obiously are at home with a Danish composer and may not have the biggest or best string sound in the world but all in all this is my find of the year..BUY.
