Performance:   Sonics:
L. Hamza vcl & p, S. Kenner g, K. Park as & flt, T. Clark b, T. Ruskin dr, Groove Note 2000.
I admit, I bought this disc only because all Groove Note disks I know have great sound. I like female singers more than male. Well, I was right. The sound on this disc is as great as on every Groove Note disc, rich of colour, very good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, very dynamic, brilliant.
But after listening several times I really like the music very much, too. Mr. Hamza is a very good singer (not excessively sweet) and the music is not just accompaniment but stands for itself with exciting solos. The focus is not only on the voice and so the fourteen jazz standards are very diverting and pleasing.
