Props should be given to this disc since it was the first SACD of "The Planets". However, there have been several since that have easily surpassed this kind of dry rendition of this excellent composition.
While the sonics are not a disaster, they do not exhibit the traits that make SACD so special. Bass is very weak, the detail is absent and the air around the instruments is just not present. The performance does not help. It is very cold and dry. It lacks passion and emotion. In addition, there are several tracks that are stereo only.
For such an expensive disc, it is best to stay away. Pick up the Bernstein disc instead.
