Well I was a bit suprised when I noticed no one had posted a review and that someone else had not liked this disc.Im aware it was only given a luke warm review on Grammie. Reviewed as an sacd where we have a distinct shortage of "pop in and play operatic excerpts " then this is a welcome addition. Marcellos voise is a bit similair to Domingos early voice, not suprising really and no bad thing.Though for purists this is a big negative if you want it to be. Not me , as the orchestral backing and beautifull tone of this disc is a delight without reaching 5 star status overall. My yardstick in listening is often different to others because at the end of the disc I ask "Was that the solist conducter or the composer or in some cases the HIFI I was just listening to."...This disc seems to be about the composers and to me a top quality soloist.with excellent (nice) orchestral playing and recording......we are not Talking Russell Watson here.(cringe).....The varied selection of French ? excerpts includes Willian Tell some Donizetti and Verdi for good measure.I gather he has recorded an even better disc which would fill another gap in our limited sacd market.Unlikely Sony will release it on sacd...Really good notes/booklet/standard cd case.I enjoyed it.not for Ebay this one....Dave
