What a fun mix! As with most rap in 5.1 it has fun with the mix and yes strong bass. I though this was a "Once and Done" SACD but I keep coming back as I like new recordings in 5.1. I also like the music more than I thought. But really it's the mix that keeps me listening to this one. Thoms up on this one.

A r&b-hip hop-pop title... with a good & fun experiement with surround mix... breaking all the rules of soundstage placement in jazz & classical recordings (and why not? perfect for this genre)

Popular tracks like 'Crazy In Love', 'Baby Boy' and 'Naughty Girl' are presented in a refreshing way.

Not an album to rave about, but an interesting look into how SACD surround could work on pop titles that depends alot on digital and sampling sources.

Get it purely for the sonic fun of it!

Even though this is a hit album selling millions all over the place I don’t really get it. It just isn’t very interesting to listen to musically. And when it comes to sound, well…. The bass on some of the tracks is horrendous, one big mess dripping out of my speakers. Even my girlfriend was bothered by the sound produced by this recording.
I usually play all my music on my Philips SACD-1000 which isn’t famous for its wonderful bass control so I was kinda blaming it on the Philips. But I recently had a Marantz SA17s1 player at home on a trail bases. And things didn’t get better even thought it was a much better player on all my other disc, it seemed to make this one sound even worse.
Well if you like the music you could buy it, but I don’t see the point. Both music wise and sound wise this one just doesn’t cut it.
