The Thorns were the talents of the pop infused Matthew Sweet, Shawn Mullins and Pete Droge who released this gem back in 2003. Musically you know that if Matthew Sweet is involved then you can bet that the music will be emotive and harmonic and that holds true on this album from start to finish. Back in 2003 i bought this on RBCD and for the last 10 years I have played it a ton....this is a truely excellent album
Musically Sweet, Mullins and Droge play in the likeness of America, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and Seals and Croft with a good dose of Matthew Sweet's pop sensibility. ....a harmonic country-folk-rock vibe.
Recently I found the SACD version of this album and love it......no question the bass and depth of the sound is a definite improvement over the RBCD. The SACD mix really sheds light on the beautiful harmonies and instrumentation. My favourite song on this album is "no blue sky" which sounds extra huge and rich on this disc..
If you can find this sacd then I would highly recommend it........
This disc sounds great !!!!
