I like to take chances on certain genres of music and jazz is no exception. This album is a mixture of very smooth, relaxing salsa jazz but also some more up tempo tracks as well. Also one must also like music with heavy emphasis on the vibe instrument.
It is a very relaxing listen to be sure and somewhat stylized for some tastes but it might also be worth a sample or two so that you can make up your own mind.
I could imagine those that are extremely picky would relegate this title to lounge music and nothing more than that but that would be a great disservice to the talent behind this offering.
I love the Concord label and their many sacd's which by and large offer terrifc sounding sacd's. This title is simply more of the same great sound that I have always expected from the label. This disc is very musical, flavorful....has nice low end information and yes.....the vibes are awesome to. Anexcellent recording and dsd tranfer.
So you dont have to be in Tahiti, Cuba or hawaii to experience the cool sounds of this music...just be adventurous.
Highly recommended if you want to unwind with drink in hand after a long day at work. You can just fall into your chair and not get up.
