Big Band of about 20 musicians, Chesky 1999. Paquito D`Rivera`s big band is playing the music of the then famous Cuban nightclub in Havana, the Tropicana. As always with Chesky recordings, the sound is perfect and a pleasure but the music is for fans only. A whole disc of Cuban big band rhythms is too much for me. It may be performed perfectly (I am sure, this is the case here) and there may be some variation through the vocals of Brenda Feliciano and Lucrecia but it does bore me because I do not like latin music very much. But that is matter of taste and if you are a fan, this disc is the right one.
