This one's plain vanilla, folks. The instrumentation is sparse, with just Dylan's acoustic guitar & harmonica, electric bass and drums. The only real standouts are "All Along The Watchtower" (natch!), and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight"--the other tunes are quite pedestrian, especially when compared to his best work.
Sound quality is acceptable, but nothing more. The SACD layer is more full-sounding, but not by much. No sonic revelations here, and that'S a real disappointment, given what Sony's engineers did with "Another Side Of Bob Dylan" and the acoustic side of Dylan'S "Bringing It All Back Home".

Dylan's JWH is a classic and an excellent album from the vintage folk era......How can you beat "All Along The Watchtower" or "I Pity the Poor Immigrant"....songs that changed the world......or tried to anyway..so musically an excellent album
....but the bummer here is that although this SACD layer offers some definitely clearer instrumental and vocal separation it does suffer from just a dull flat mix and a HUGE spiked harmonica accentuation. I found the harmonica parts shrill and in your face! Actually at high volumes i had to turn down the volume so that the harmonica did not blow my ear drums.
Not sure if others hear this huge spike in the recording levels and accentuation but It actually stands in the way for me to listen too loud,,,,
So great on the sound but not so great on the harmonica mix.
no need to own this one kids ! unless you get it for cheap like I did !

| This album was my first introduction to Bob Dylan, and still in my top 5 favourite Dylan-albums. The sonics are ok to me. No complaints.
