Performance:   Sonics:
W. Horvitz p & prepp, T. Young eg, K. Lowe b, A. Roth ds, Songlines 2001.
Ten original compositions of very contemplative, sometimes sophisticated music with some beautiful melodies. Two tracks have got an up-tempo rhythm, “LTMBBQ” and “In the Lounge” have real good, exciting jazz grooves. The rest is thrilling music for a listening session with close attention and concentration. You get a clear electric guitar and a (prepared) piano playing great solos in their own peculiar way and empathic bass and drums. The sound is very good, rich of colour, very good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, dynamic, brilliant.

Performance:   Sonics:
“…conjures Keith Jarrett’s pianistic landscapes, with a hint of Frisell’s pastoralism. Horvitz plays sublimely beautiful melodies on piano; Young delivers clean, crisp, coloristic electric guitar; Lowe massages out rueful basslines; and drummer Andy Roth…plays with brushes like an impressionistic painter.” — Christopher Porter, Jazz Times

****1/2 “Horvitz creates an album that is rich with flavor…The disc abounds with warmth and sensitivity…It doesn’t go by preconceptions of jazz, but uses the genre as a touchstone, venturing into everything from Eastern European motifs to surf guitar. A terrific album.” — Tim Sheridan, allmusic.com

This is a "sweet" album! The piano, guitars, acoustic bass, and drums are very clearly defined in space.
