Yes: Yessongs Hybrid SACD Japanese 2014 release Stereo.
Yes, First live recording in 1973. There 6th album released. This is the exact same disc as in the Yes, 2013 High Vibrations Box Set. I have seen Yes twice live, once in Oakland and once at The Warfield, SF. This 3 album original LP was quite a prize back in the day and I have owned LP, Cassette and RBCD. This album also marks the trade between drummers Bill Bruford departure and Alan White's arrival who are both on different tracks. This edition has a DR 8 VS you can get versions as high as 11 or 12.
Performance: Love it. My first Yes LP and the live version of Starship Trooper hooked me as a Yes fan. Having liked and heard songs like Roundabout and Yous Is No Disgrace got me to purchase previous albums and I became a Yes fan for life.

"The album featured no detailed recording credits. Two songs, "Close to the Edge" and "Starship Trooper", can be established by audio comparison to be sourced from the same London Rainbow Theatre concert as the Yessongs film (15 December 1972). "Roundabout" is assumed to come from the Ottawa, ON show (1 November 1972) and "Yours is No Disgrace" from the Athens, GA show (14 November 1972) (both of these dates are purely anecdotal). The two tracks from the Fragile tour featuring Bill Bruford are generally assumed to come from the NYC Academy of Music shows on 19 and 23 February 1972 (based on text in the 1973 Australian Tour programme)."
Stereo Sonics: Horrible. I listened to the first disc in absolute torture. I did not listen to the second disc, I could not put myself through that. Very compressed, my ears could not relax, bright and shrill, I hated it. I give it a 2 because I can at least hear something.
Packaging: Absolutely fantastic. A 7" X 7" mini original album. Triple cardboard gate fold, all original Roger Dean artwork.

"The album was initially released on three discs in a fold-out package featuring artwork by Roger Dean. There are four individual panels by Dean which continue a theme that began with Fragile in 1971. On the back cover of Fragile is an image of a small planet breaking apart into several large pieces with a giant sailing spacecraft nearby. The rear panel in Yessongs, titled "Escape", shows the craft apparently leading the planetary fragment through space. The first inside panel ("Arrival") depicts these fragments landing in the waters of a new world. The center panel ("Awakening") this new landscape becomes the habitat for various plant and animal species. The final image ("Pathways") depicts the emergence of civilisation (Dean's cat walked across this piece whilst still wet and its paw prints can be clearly seen). This theme is also the basis of the film Floating Islands. The sailing craft was used as a small logo on many of the band's subsequent albums, and the image sequence inspired Yes vocalist Jon Anderson's first solo album Olias of Sunhillow in 1976, although Roger Dean was not involved with that album's artwork."
I wonder if this is where Journey got there album designs from?
Two mini paper booklets. One with color, live, photos of the band. Another Japanese with English and Japanese lyrics.
Do not purchase this issue for the music as the sonics are horrible. If you care at all about packaging then this is a must.
As much as I am a packaging freak, in the end it is about the music. Wish I didn't buy it.
