Firstly, I will say the obvious. Whoever seeks to purchase this SACD already knows this is one of THE great albums in rock. Period.

Prior to this release I have only had the remaster from 1999. Before listening to this SACD I had played it through a few times to bed the disc in, as one seems to need to do with these SHM discs to reveal the music's true quality. Then, the first listen...

Oh my... what a pure delight! This is so far beyond that 1999 redbook version it's not funny. The separation of instruments in the soundstage, the sheer richness and presence of those instruments, superb. Ferry's voice is far more engaging (could it be any more anyway!?). I'm trying to think of how to describe the SACD verses the CD. The CD shows the music no doubt, however the SACD also reveals the electric performance in the studio. Enough said... get this disc!!
