After the outstanding success of the 2 Queen DVD-A's, who would want to listen to the Hits in mere stereo?

I would. I do not own the DVD-A version (and I think one can hardly find them now) but I do own the Queen SHM SA-CDs except a few (Jazz and Hot Space which I don't like), and I find them all excellent, though they come from a 96/24 remaster.

But in all honesty, after hearing the DVD~A's of Queen in full throttled 5.1 surround, ALL the Queen releases should eventually be remastered in that format on SACD. They're that good.
But the SHM~SACDs ARE excellent but cost 4 times what the original DVD~As (also 96/24 MLP 5.1) cost.

As a matter of fact, I own their Greatest Hits videos on DVD (volume I and II) which have a 5.1 DTS 96/24 soundtrack. They ARE good sounding, but unfortunately not as good as they could have been, since the masters used are those from the original video tapes, not the original studio tapes.
So you can hear artifacts, the frequency range contains almost only mediums, and the tape hiss is off the scale... more like a continuous brown noise than a real tape hiss, actually. But no artist ever invested millions in impeccable videos at that time anyway.
I must admit that I'd LOVE to get ANATO and The Game on DVD-A to hear them in multichanel, straight from the original studio tapes.

I own both 'A Night At The Opera' and 'The Game' DVDA's. They are both 24/96 based, on Stereo and MC 5.1. I recently ripped both the Stereo and MC layers for streaming through my OPPO BDP-95. They do sound excellent. My problem with the SHM SACD's (I have purchased a few) is the fact that they are only stereo single layer and rather expensive and as much as I'd love to purchase many more especially the Queen issues, I can't keep justifying the cost to myself. That said it would be nice if they created a Queen box set for them all.
I also suspect that they will shortly become generally available in Hi-Res on HDTracks, Qobuz or HIRESAUDIO fairly soon and at much cheaper prices. They were available for 24/96 download from one of the Japanese web sites but Japan only (Onkyo I think).
Is there a difference between listening to a 24/96 source (streamed say) and the same source converted to DSD/SACD?

An eternal and big debate !
This would demand having one of the DVD-As and the SHM SA-CDs, and compare them. Not owing the DVD-As, I can't do that.
But I do hear a frank improvement over the original CDs, and over the remastered CDs downsampled from the same Bob Ludwig 96/24 remasters as well.
As from "A Kind Of Magic" (1986), the band's very first digital recorded album, everything was recorded in 44.1/16, so the 96/24 + converted to DSD are nothing but upsampled reissues, and do not improve a thing.
You can hear a strong difference if you listen to the early albums and to "A Kind Of Magic" right after : the latter sounds surprisingly flat all of the sudden. Same thing for the following remastered albums.
