Anyone here that already have tried to RIP DSD stream from physical media, succesfully? I have heard that you need the old PSP3 (with CECHC04 firmware) these were the 60 gigs versions 10 y.o. + special version of the OS + proprietary software capable to doing this. Any update on this? Easier and less expensive way?

For info, try www.computeraudiophile.com

It is doable but there is no easier or less expensive alternative.

In December I finished the year long project of ripping my 500+ SACD's using this method. You're a little off on the particular requirements but basically correct and, yes, it's the only known way to exercise our fair use right to the data on our discs. I now play all of my SACD's using iso images from a dedicated server on my gigabit home network through a laptop connected to a DSD DAC using Foobar and can play any title with a mouse click. The sound is much better than using any SACD player I have ever owned and that includes the s-phile A+ rated SCD-XA777ES and Marantz SA-14.

Strange weather patterns this winter - global warming? If it gets any drier here, camels will become popular.

We're expecting over 14 inches of snow today and temperatures going to 20 below 0 this week. Global freezing is more like it.

Good listening weather. Must be more tweaks for you to try out -- if you could get them delivered.

So far 69 degrees and sunny here. No precip until next week.

'Camels' are already popular amongst many Americans are they not? If you start a hiring business you may not be allowed to call them "Camels". Super droms? perhaps, one hump or two?

Time to fire up those old Krell Mono-blocks, literally. I do not envy you that one bit. Still what the US does today, Britain will surely follow. Just when we thought it safe to go outside....

Think you must be confusing us with denizens of the Sahara.

Well, according to my late Uncle, Southern California was a desert brought to life by irrigation (Shades of Vegas?) so perhaps hiredfox isn't too far off.

And I'm sure, deep inside, Euell, you've always wanted to be a shiek!

Chic!

We have no sheiks in my ethnic group, but to get to your point about Southern California: they grew oranges and avocados in parts of SoCal before the big water projects, although the acreage expanded with the availability of massive water supplies. There is a lot of desert in SoCal, but there are also areas with natural water supplies. In any case, camels were and are seen almost exclusively in zoos, and they don't work well on crowded freeways, although I must admit to having seen donkey carts in heavy traffic in Cairo.

PS. Rammie, short sleeve weather here.
