Adding to the previous post....Generally, bass information for the subwoofer is normally only applied to multi-channel SACD,s. 2-Channel SACD's require some setup tweaking on your DSD compatible receiver/processor in order to provide bass management to a sub, or only the front speakers are enabled.

To answer your initial question: Yes. You can always improve performance whether it's hardware or maintanance. Clean power supply and clean contacts improve sound quality considerably. Upgrades should start with your speaker array. Room acoustics from wall treatment to a throw rug can alter sound quality. Watching a movie is one thing, but when it comes to high-fidelity music there is a desired "sweetspot" as far as your seating arrangement. Well O.P., that's a good starting point. Have fun!

TRTatum:
bass information for the subwoofer ...

Better subwoofers (like Genelec 7071A I have) can route 1-6 channels through it and snatch and filter all bass information from them without any help or tweaking from a MCH receiver. Works perfectly, I use analog outputs only straight from the SACD player. 16 Hz to 25 kHz up to 115 dB SPL continuous...

I have a older Arcam AVR300 surround receiver and old JM Lab 5 speakers with a new OPPO BDP-103 blue-ray dic player. The BDP Manuel suggest I use analog set up since my receiver does not have a HDMI input. I played a Noah Jones Sacd and the vocals seemed to favor center stage, am I doing something wrong?

On a properly set up 5.1 system, the vocals do tend to come out of the center channel (I am assuming you're playing Come Away With Me's multichannel track).
