why can't i buy this on Amazon ?

New Analogue Products releases are first available at selected "audiophile" stores (Acoustic Sounds, Elusive Disc, etc) before becoming available at Amazon, usually at lower prices. JPC (Germany) also gets them early, but at a high price.

It looks like Analogue Productions has become more selective after their earlier SACDs (the Blue Note series in particular) were sold with a discount by Amazon very quickly after the release date, thereby cutting the market price.

If you want to buy them from Amazon (not the Marketplace), you'll have to wait a couple of weeks, sometimes longer.

I do a lot of buying from Amazon but SACDs from AP usually cost more on Amazon. Better off just getting it through Acoustic Sounds.

Those Amazon Marketplace sellers who offer AP SACDs soon after the release date probably bought them as regular customers at list price from Acoustic Sounds (which owns the AP label), which explains their high price.

But older AP SACDs are cheaper on Amazon. $22-25 instead of $30.

Acoustic Sounds also has the disadvantage of very high overseas shipping costs (3 times what other stores charge), which can make buying from Amazon cheaper even if the disc price is higher.

Acoustic Sounds also sells directly on Amazon but with domestic shipping only, no way to avoid them.
