I ordered the CD/ DVD-A edition Kutyatest mentioned, but now think I might just go for the CD/ BR version instead. It's only £1.78 more and Blu Ray Audio needs all the help it can get if it's to survive :)

Good choice, Derek. I already sprung for the AF Close to the Edge SACD and the BD~A, for the paltry increase in price over the DVD~A, has a plethora of extra goodies that neither edition has.

I am Listening to BD-A for some time now. I have also bitten the bullet and paid for High Vibration box set. As I supposed earlier SW has done it the best way: crisp and crystal clear sound that you will enjoy for the rest of your life. HV edition is the second best (thou a bit bright and you have to turn the volume knob by 30% down) in comparison to other so called hi-res.

I have listened to CTTE so many times and this time I have dicovered sounds I havent been aware of previously....Bill Bruford is doing his best job with YES. Chris providing a bass that is not overtly heavy but still urging you to pay attention to lower registers (esp. title track and Siberian Khatru). Jon sings his heart - very nicely. I have to read lyrics previously with each listen only to understand each word. Now you can hear it though you have to listen very closely and tentatively to it: "Political ends as sad remains will die" Oh Jon how I wish to!

Recommended is the smoothies of 192/24 transfers of original master tape (stereo only) as well. There you can easily hear what Steve Hoffmann is not capable to attain.

All 2013 mixes sound very contemporary and slightly differs from original you are used to....I cannot complain. The same has SW done to other albums and made them more timeless or definitive if you like.

Anyway I am VERY satisfied and all critical places in CTTE and Siberian Khatru are gone now - enjoy this recording!

I agree with every word of this regarding Steven Wilson's BD version - can't say anything about the High Vibration box set as I don't own it.

But gee... the bluray, what a gem ! Especially the 192/24 flat transfer ! And a special appreciation ofr the UK vinyl transfer as well.

I report that my DVD-A of this album, re-mastered by Steve Wilson is considerably superior to the SACD version I used to own. Such a pity that's the way things worked out. I've listened to both the 5.1 and stereo versions of the MLP options, and they're wonderful. Although I appeared to be someone that didn't think the SACD was bad, I definately thought it lacked something - and that wasn't even a multi-channel soundtrack.

Roll on more Steve Wilson multi-channel album mixes.

Is that situation any different for DVD-A than for BD-A? ;-)

Yoeri!

No, the situation is no different. Both these formats need all the support they can be given. At least that's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Which makes it nice to have just found out that "The Yes Album" mixed by Steve Wilson, is due out in a couple of weeks time. Due out - according to internet sources - on the 14 April, and wll be like "Close to the Edge", a DVD-A/CD release. The DVD-A to have a 5.1 mix. It's already listed for pre-order on Amazon UK for those interested.

Reminds me of a fresh cherry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Juicy, organic remaster that melts in your mouth. Steve Hoffman owns Steven Wilson.

HUH?

Hoffman despises multichannel of which, IMHO, Steve Wilson is a master.

A CRAZY statement, HoffmanRulez!

Wilson is solid state modernization.

Hoffman is tubealicious & maintains the intent of the album.

Winner: Steve Hoffman in a landslide.
