Well it's not SACD and I am always amongst the very last to know these things but this alert is really to advise you that a newly remastered set of the Beatles vinyl albums was released on Monday, November 12 by EMI for the princely price of £300. The set is pressed in audiophile grade 180 gm vinyl and the production run is limited to 50,000.

My guess is there will be huge demand worldwide and the sets will become a collector's item immediately stocks sell out.

Here is the link

If you want this set do not vacillate is my advice.

Since you ask... YES, I have mine already.

and how they sound? AnalogPlanet.com informs that these vinyls are sourced from a digital 24/44 master.

Thanks in advance

Maybe good as an investment as John says, but I'll stick with the new CDs.

From 2009, or has something newer been released that I'm not aware of?

These are not the 2009 discs. They are brand new pressings using original uncompressed 24 bit masters with a new 'lacquer' process in which grooves are cut into a nickel disc with a soft lacquer coating using a Neumann VMS80 cutting lathe - to create a 'warmer' sound according to HFN. Sean Magee is the EMI supervising engineer.

Yeah, the 2009 CD reissues are the latest CD releases and that's what I'm sticking with.

I too have read that these LP versions are made from the 24/44.1 digital masters prepared for the 2009 CD issues. I don't think EMI have ever let the original analogue master tapes leave the building.

I gave up vinyl earlier this year for good, it's just a pity The Beatles music hasn't made it onto SACD.

I purchased "Sgt. Pepper's LHCB" and "Abbey Road" shortly after they were released in September 2009. SQ is good for what they are; 1960's pop music.

Thinking of getting some earlier titles such as "Revolver", "Rubber Soul" etc.

I also wish they were on SA-CD, but if I want to listen to them in multi-channel, I just invoke either DTS-Neo6-music or Dolby-PLII-music DSP on AVR. Works fine.
