Sorry if this has been covered already but are they indefinitely on hold? The SD ones were due over a year ago.

According to Genesis' official website and Nick Davis, the group's remastering engineer, there are at least 3 Genesis albums completed for multi-channel SACD. In fact, you can hear some of these multi-channel remixes on the just-released Genesis video compilation, "The Video Show". Various reasons were given for the delay of the SACDs, include Peter Gabriel's request to revise the multi-channel remixes to his liking.

Several sources on the net have mentioned a possible meeting in Novemeber with the "classic lineup" of Genesis. Steve Hackett has mentioned about a possible meeting in a recent Chicago Sun-Times interview. It's also been mentioned that Peter Gabriel has talked about this on the TV entertainment news show "Extra" during an interview. What's the meeting about? Announcement of SACD releases? Reunion shows?

Edit: The 5.1 SACD remix for The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot are completed.

According to a November 3rd post on the Genesis forum by Nick Davis, the multi-channel remix of "Wind and Wuthering" has been completed. And he's starting on "And Then There Were Three" next week

Steve Hackett as well mentioned a meeting on around Nov 20th. The guys on the genesis forum are dreaming of a reunion now, but in my opinion they will discuss the release of the SACD`s. X-Mas time is coming quickly ! I wonder that Nick Davies are running up the whole catalougue without waiting the success of the first finished ones. Me personally, i cannot await the release of the SACD`s ! A possibibility could be another re-recording like Carpet Crawlers 99 as advertisment. It is difficult enough to sell a product so many people already have. OK, "normal" CD machines play them as well and they sound like remastered, but is it enough to buy them without having a surround system ?

The delay of The Lamb is only the thing of Peter Gabriel. The SACD should have been released much earlier but he wasnt satisfied and he has the rights of the whole thing. He even re-sang few passages.

Musictap.net is currently reporting Peter Gabriel stated that he will participate in a Genesis "reunion" only if new music is created. Since Genesis' studio, The Farm, has been retrofitted with 5.1 surround capabilities, maybe the band should consider recording a new album with multi-channel SACD in mind.

Edit: We now have 3 members of Genesis being positive about a possible reunion....Steve Hackett, Phil Collins and now Peter Gabriel!! Peter Gabriel says meeting with other members of Genesis is imminent. SACD releases? Reunion concerts? Both?? See below link to Rolling Stone magazine article....

And I guess that's it. Universal has shelved the project so far. The Steely Dan SA-CDs were deleted from their "upcoming releases"-site in summer 2004. Universal is not that interested in SA-CDs anymore as far as the pop/rock and jazz productions are concerned.
Unfortunately !

Has there been any recent news about when the Genesis SACDs are likely to be released? It seems to have gone very quiet of late.

No release date announced yet. According to a post on February 9 by the band's engineer Nick Davis, "Duke" is finished and work will start on "Abacab" the coming Monday. Looks like the band wants its entire catalog remixed and remastered for hi-rez.

Edit: this link http://ghostland.com/ghostland/new_releases.asp shows 3 Genesis SACDs "tentative" release date.
