My reference version for sound & performance is still the Decca's 1979 digital Kondrashin/VPO version. What a sound!

Not on sound surely, it was one of those ghastly Decca 'demonstration class' discs that Penguin used to rave about but sounded shrill and unlistenable to on a half-decent hi-fi.

Have you played it lately against Fischer's Philips disc?
