Review says top-rate sound quality. The RBCD version has top-rate sound quality. Would be interested to know what improvements, if any, the SACD has over the RBCD

To be totally honest, Euell, the Manhattan Records RBCD pressing of DSIB was a revelation in itself and showed that 16/44.1 could shine (on occasion) but, as usual, AP has outdone themselves both in this release on SACD and especially Ms Cole's Temptation, the latter with added bonus cuts and a sound that can only be described as revelatory.......what one would refer to as a private concert in one's listening room.

I paid $27 for each SACD delivered from Acoustic Sounds and for that price and when comparing it to the $60 or so SHM~SACDs, I would consider both purchases veritable bargains in the re~issue market.

Although Temptation (Ms Cole's Tom Wait's cover album) is what one would refer to as "different," it, too, is a fine example of how involving a recording can render a performance.

DSIB and Tempation both receive my highest recommendation both for performance, interpretation and especially state of the art sound!

Were the two Cole albums recorded to analogue tape or as 16/44 digital files? If the latter, I'm assuming SACD amounts to an at best minimal gain. (I'm trying to talk myself into buying Temptation, fwiw.)

Get them both......they're fantastic audiophile treasures. Temptation is brilliant, IMO. The Sound is tactile and so much in your room that you're wife and/or girlfriend/mistress will get jealous she's so REAL.

Hmm, inspiring a little jealousy may have its benefits.... Thanks for encouraging me to be financially irresponsible!
